About

The 2018 SPANZ symposium is looking at the very current theme of Resilience. It is targeted at delegates working in the pre-hospital setting and is predominantly open to students from paramedicine, nursing, social work, medicine and police recruits. This is the first step for students transitioning towards working with other professions and utilizing our colleagues out of the hospital setting.

The program include two scenario-based panels which will delve itno mental health and disaster management on a deeper level. There will be a range of presentations targeted at both personal and organisationl resillience, including topics covering: family violence, addiction services, mental health (our own and our patients), street drugs, debriefing, work wellness/coping with shift work and counselling.

This session will have our presenter Ari Peach discuss how NZ paramedics use counselling for their mental health.
