Alternative Pathways – All things comms, secondary triage and ECP

With paramedics seeing more low acuity cases, focus shifts to community care, chronic illness management and keeping patients out of hospital. How do comms and secondary triage assist with low acuity cases, what is the role of ECP and when can paramedics utilise alternative pathways. This presentation is designed for Tasmanian Paramedics with local referral services and guidelines being referenced.

Biographies:

Leah Geard- Leah currently works for Ambulance Tasmania in the State Operations Centre and has a wealth of clinical experience through roles as an Intensive Care Paramedic, Extended Care Paramedic, and Clinical Support Manager.

Piaf Redmond - Piaf has been a Paramedic with Ambulance Tasmania for 14 years, 11 as an Intensive Care Paramedic. She has also worked as a Clinical Support Officer, Educator, Clinical Services Project Officer, and is currently working as a Clinical Deployment Officer in the State Operations Centre.

Peter Grzonkowski - Peter has worked 10 years as a road paramedic in NSW. His previous roles include working in education and has spent 12 months as a paramedic educator volunteer in Vanuatu. Peter also spent 12 months with Ambulance Tasmania in Secondary Triage Project development and implementation.
