Presentation: Paediatric Trauma: A crash course

Major trauma in the paediatric population is thankfully rare. However, attending such a scene can be significantly confronting for all clinicians. Emotions will be running high and stress levels will rise. This talk will explore the nuances of assessment and management of the paediatric trauma patient compared with an adult. The talk will also touch on methods to help paramedics maintain their performance when experiencing the negative side effects of stress.

Tash is a Queensland Critical Care Paramedic and has been working on the Brisbane High Acuity Response Unit since 2020. Tash has worked in various different roles within the ambulance including Clinical Support Officer, Senior Clinical Educator for the Critical Care Paramedic internship program, Manager, Clinical Education, Gold Coast and Quality Assurance officer in the Office of the Medical Director. Tash has Master of Health Care leadership and is working towards a Master of Traumatology.
