The challenges of paediatric critical care, combined with the added burden of emotion and parents can mean clinicians often worry more about the basics of paediatric critical care more than any other patient type. In the Paediatric Masterclass, the team, led by Dr Victoria Matheson, will give you the practical, fail-safe tools to look after paediatrics, focusing on the fundamentals of A, B and C. This session will include live presentations of paediatric airway management, combined with the latest research and tools to reduce the stress on critical care clinicians when caring for an unwell child. 13:00 – 15:00	Session 2 - The Art of Low Fidelity Simulation Session 2 - The Art of Low Fidelity Simulation Simulation is a vital tool for all clinicians to facilitate education, and to develop clinical skills in a supportive and risk free environment. We all use simulation to help teach and train, but how well do you know how to actually facilitate a simulation? In this session, led by Dr Sam Bendall, the team will present some of the latest evidence and techniques to better improve your simulation experience, and to help you to better deliver simulation and practical based education. From mental rehearsal of clinical interventions to whiteboard scenarios, The Art of Low Fidelity Simulation will aim to show you have to deliver a simulation with minimal equipment. The early phases of the COVID pandemic saw many debates around access to ICU beds and advanced resuscitation for large cohorts of the community. In this session, panel members will discuss some ethical questions which are often seen in the critical care community. End of life decisions, equality of access to treatment, and competing interests between KPIs and delivering best patient care are only some of the topics this panel will discuss. If it isn't in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane, it's not worth talking about right? In this session, we will hear from the champions of critical care medicine, outside of the east coast of Australia. Gayle and James will present what is happening in the west, whilst Hannah will tell us all about what is happening in Aotearoa New Zealand. The presenters will include new trials and research projects being undertaken, changes to clinical practice in the prehospital setting, and where critical care medicine is going in the near future. 13:00 – 15:00	Session 2 - Choose your own Adventure: adapting to challenges in Critical Care Session 2 - Choose your own Adventure: adapting to challenges in Critical Care One of the key aspects of practicing critical care medicine in both the pre-hospital, and in-hospital setting is the unpredictable nature of events. Critical care clinicians will seldom know in advance what their day will entail, so how do we prepare to adapt to ever increasing challenges, whilst still delivering best patient care. In this interactive session, the panel and the audience will discuss a patient journey from the pre-hospital to the in-hospital setting. Along this patient journey, the presenters will discuss how to apply leadership, communication and decision making skills to clinical settings, and will aim to give you skills to better prepare for the unexpected. Presenters in this session will share their tools to communicate, make rapid decisions, and what makes a good clinical leader.
